This Week’s Teaching

The Pearl of Great Price

Message Focus:

In this sermon at Nazarene Way Church, we explore one of the shortest yet most profound parables taught by Jesus the Nazarene: The Pearl of Great Price.

In just two verses, Jesus tells a story about a merchant who discovers a pearl of such extraordinary value that he sells everything he owns to obtain it. This simple image contains a powerful message about value, clarity, and what it truly means to recognize the kingdom of God.

What did Jesus mean when he compared the kingdom of heaven to a pearl? Why does the merchant immediately sell everything? And what does this parable reveal about the priorities and decisions that shape our lives?

In this teaching, we look closely at the meaning behind this remarkable story and explore how the earliest followers of Jesus—known as the People of the Way—understood the radical call to reorder one’s life around the kingdom of God.

This message invites us to reflect on a profound question hidden within the parable:

What do you believe is truly valuable?
