Outreach Missions

At Nazarene Way Church, the heart of our faith beats for the Ebionim—the Hebrew word meaning “the poor ones.”

Jesus the Nazarene cared deeply for the homeless, the downtrodden, and those society overlooks—the ones dismissed with cold rationalizations like, “They made their bed… they have a drug problem.” But to Jesus the Nazarene, and to James the Just, compassion was not conditional.

James—the brother of Jesus and head of the early Jerusalem assembly—repeatedly emphasized the importance of caring for the poor and even chastised Paul, reminding him “not to forget the poor.” The Nazarenes themselves later came to be known as the poor ones, the Ebionim.

For this reason, every mission we undertake at Nazarene Way Church centers on caring for the poor, the forgotten, and the homeless.

Veg Pizza Missions

One of our most beloved outreach efforts is called "Veg Pizza Missions."

Each mission begins with the purchase of roughly $1,000 worth of vegetarian or plant-based pizzas, which we then distribute directly to the homeless in areas such as Santa Ana and Venice Beach, California.

Every person receives a full pizza box—along with a moment of genuine human connection. When prompted, we share the teachings and message of Jesus the Nazarene.

One recent mission in Venice Beach featured Kam Waters, co-director of the acclaimed documentary Christspiracy, and was filled with powerful encounters and stories of transformation.

Closet Giving Missions

Another regular act of service we hold dear is our Closet Giving Missions.

Members of our congregation gather clothing, shoes, and personal items—things that no longer fit or are simply unused—and hand-deliver them to those living on the streets.

What others might discard, we redeem.

What others overlook, we embrace.

These simple acts of service embody the spirit of the original Nazarenes and their devotion to compassion in action.
