This Week’s Teaching

Pray for Your Enemies? The Original Nazarene Teaching Christianity Forgot

Message Focus:

In this sermon, we go back to the earliest Nazarene sources, including the Didache, to uncover why praying for enemies was not moral sentimentality—but a direct threat to cycles of violence, retaliation, and imperial power.

We’ll explore:

  • The Didache’s command to pray and fast for persecutors

  • Jesus’ own words in the Synoptic Gospels (Matthew, Luke, and the embodied witness of Mark)

  • Why the Nazarene way of dealing with enemies dismantles hatred at the root

  • How this teaching was practiced before Christianity became Romanized

This is not modern Christianity. This is the original Nazarene way. If you’re interested in the Jewish roots of Jesus, early Nazarene theology, and restoring the original teachings of the Way—this sermon is for you.
